Small gold crochet purse with a small pumpkin applique in the center.

Yellow purse with orange pumpkin embroidered on it

Since I found out I was having a little girl I dreamed of making her a cute little purse! When the pumpkin patch around town opened up we decided to go take the kids and that is how the inspiration for this purse was created. The pumpkin applique was a last-minute pattern change but I really loved how it turned out! She seemed to like it and that is all I could ever ask for.

The pattern is worked as one panel then folded in half, sewn inside out for a seamless edge.

  • brown yarn for pumpkin stem #4
  • orange yarn for pumpkin #4
  • green yarn for greenery embroidery ( optional ) #4
  • embroidery needle
  • scissors

Crochet stitches used:

  • Single crochet – SC
  • Double crochet – DC

Fold in half with the inside of the bag is out.  Start to sew both sides, weave in the ends, and turn inside out.

TIP * Leave a long tail before chaining 70 stitches for the strap, to make it easier to sew on both ends and it is more secure.

  2. SC in the first stitch to the end. CH 1, turn.

Attach both ends of the straps to the inside of the purse. Fasten off, cut and weave in the ends.
