FLORIS THE FLAMINGO AMIGURUMI PATTERN

Hello everyone! So happy to share with you this month’s Amigurumi-free crochet pattern! Flamingos are no strangers to summer vibes and I love pink and have been wanting to work with some pretty yarn and decided it was time to make the flamingo using a similar shape as my previous patterns. So it may have a unique twist to a real-looking flamingo but I absolutely adore her! The wings were so fun to work up and they were so easy! I work the single crochet stitches in the back loop only to create that textured look for the wings and the small tail. I thought a bit of pink flare on the top of the head would be fun, two pieces are sewed together to make that happen!

Measures approximately 12 inches tall.

As always feel free to change the colors up to make a variety of different-looking flamingos! Remember to stuff with poly-fil as you work up every couple of rounds. Stuff enough where it’s full but still has some squish to it to help the construction of the amigurumi since it is worked up in one piece. Uses more for the neck to help keep it steady.

I hope you enjoy the flamingo pattern as much as I did making it and as much as my daughter loves snuggling with it! 🙂

Happy Crocheting!

  • (Optional) Pins to help with ears and arms placements.

Read Before beginning:
  • STITCH MARKER – You will be working in rounds so keep a stitch marker close to use when working up the doll. Unless otherwise stated to CH and turn. They will mark the 1st st of each round.
  • TENSION – Make sure you use a tight enough tension to help close any “holes” a loose tension may cause. I crochet yarning under then Over to create a tighter stitch. Go down a hook size if needed. ( my tension is naturally tight)
  • ASSEMBLY – The amigurumi is worked up by first making two legs, joining them together, and working up the body and the head in one piece. Wings, beak, wings, tail, and “hair” are separate.
  • STUFFING – When using poly-fil make sure to use it to shape your amigurumi. For this one, you want the body and head a bit dense so it keeps its shape and looks fuller. Focusing on the legs up to the middle of the body.
  • BLUSH (OPTIONAL) This is optional but you could also use blush to add some sweetness to the cheeks. I use cosmetic grade blush using a dense small brush and little at a time. I have heard paint, fabric crayons, and wax doll crayons work as well.
  • PATTERN (EX. *SC in 8, INV DEC in the next. Repeat from * to the end. (36) ) You will end that round with the second step of what that round instructs. This will vary.
