HOW TO CROCHET A FIVE PETAL FLOWER

I have a fun quick tutorial today! It is a five-petal crochet flower tutorial. I believe everyone needs a simple go-to crochet flower for projects and I wanted to share with you, my favorite of all time!! YouTube Video also included if you’d prefer a talk through pattern tutorial! 🙂

You can use these flowers for many fun projects! Here to show you as an example of what you can make are some cute barefoot sandals for girls!

The flowers I made are about 2 inches in width.

I combined two petals for each foot.

I chained 50 on each of both sides of the two petals on the top to tie around the ankle, then I chained 10 in the center of the bottom petal for the toe loop. (2.5 year old in the photo)

 

Materials:

  • – Cotton yarn. (my favorite is ILTC from Hobby Lobby)
  • – Scissors
  • – Yarn needle (not pictured)

 

Crochet Hook:

  • E – 3.50 mm

 

Abbreviations:

  • CH – Chain
  • MC – Magic Circle (How-to Video HERE)
  • DC – Double Crochet
  • HDC – half Double Crochet
  • TR – Treble/ Triple

 

Crochet Pattern:

Make a Magic Circle

CH 2, HDC 10 stitches in the MC.

Before joining, fasten off the first color and join with the new color.

1st Petal: CH 3, (counts as a stitch, DC, TR, DC, DC) in the same stitch in the join space.

Slip stitch in the next stitch.

2nd Petal : (DC, DC, TR, TR, DC, DC) in the next stitch.

Slip stitch in the next stitch.

3rd Petal : (DC, DC, TR, TR, DC, DC) in the next stitch.

Slip stitch in the next stitch.

4th Petal : (DC, DC, TR, TR, DC, DC) in the next stitch.

Slip stitch in the next stitch. 5th Petal : (DC, DC, TR, TR, DC, DC) in the next stitch.

Slip stitch in the next stitch and fasten off. Weave in the end from the front to the back of the same stitch as the CH 3. Weave in all the ends.
