HOW TO CROCHET BAREFOOT BOBBLE SANDALS

This photo is credited to @stitched.by.shelby, one of the amazing testers.

Ever since before I had my own daughter I had lived near a beach in the panhandle of Florida. The weather is always warm and what a better place for someone like myself who loves to accessorize but also enjoys being barefoot! I made several barefoot sandals for myself, some very tedious using lace thread to a couple of double crochets and calling it a day.

No matter how I made them I always loved them. After having my daughter was when I wanted to make her some cute new ones! So here are my versions of some fun bobble stitches for some cute summer toes!

  • Small – 12″ – 13″
  • Medium – 13″ – 14″
  • Large – 14″ – 15″
  • XLarge – 15″ – 16″

If you would like to make some for an Adult to use as mommy and me set I have added instructions for the toe loop and body of the sandal and ankle measurement guide.

When chaining up the ankle loop measure one inch smaller than your measurement with NO stretch.

Example:

My shoe size is 5.5-6, ankle girth is 11.5″. I chained the ankle loop until it measured one inch smaller (10.5″) than my ankle girth with NO stretch. Total of 40 chains. With stretch, it would be 11.5″.

For all adult sizes use the following :

  • Ch 18
  • Step 1 – SC in 2nd CH from the hook (17) CH 1, turn.
  • Step 2 – SC in ONLY 2 sts, make a bobble in the next, SC in the next 2 sts, make a bobble in the next, SC in the next 2 sts, Bobble in the next, SC in the last 2 sts. CH 1, turn. (12 SC, 5 Bobbles)
  • Step 3 – SC across (17)
  • Step 4 – CH (10) (toe loop). Sl st to the opposite corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  • Step 5 – Insert hook in one of the corners in the other end of the sandal and CHAIN REFER TO CHART for the ankle loop. Sl st on the opposite side. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
