MUG COZY AND CHARMED COASTER SET

December is upon us and I have not yet started on gifts but in the spirit of giving and gifting I decided to make this adorable little duo! I enjoy having coasters, they are easy to whip up and great stash busters! But instead of just gifting a coaster why not make it a little set! For this gift set, all you need is to crochet one mug cozy with a matching coaster, a charm, a mug, and anything else you would like to add inside the mug. For example, tea bags with sweets, coffee with some cookies, or a hot chocolate packet with a few marshmallows inside the mug! I hope you can picture it! It really is perfect for anyone in your family or work! It is thoughtful yet easy for a quick gift idea!

Crochet mug cozy and coaster with a charm

Materials:

H 8 – 5.00 mm crochet hook

4 medium yarn – I used Hobby Lobby Yarn ID in Pearl River

Yarn needle

Measuring tape

Scissors

one button for the cozy – approx 1 inch

One charm for the coaster (optional)

Jewelry plyers to open and close the charm ring.

Stitch marker (optional) for the start and ending slip stitches.

Abbreviations:

CH – chain

SlSt – slip stitch

SC – single crochet

HDC – half double crochet

DC – double crochet

FO – fasten off

Notes:

You will be working in rows.

Chain 2 at the end of every row never counts as a stitch.

Keep your tension a little loose when making slip stitches to make it easier to work within the next row.

Measuring tape is important to keep track of how long to make the cozy.

There is no right side or wrong side, you can choose eighter or.

Having a mug on hand will help have a more custom button placement but I will give you instructions on where I sewed it on a mug that is approximately 12″ in diameter.

The charm is optional but it does add a nice touch! So many pretty ones out there and easy to customize for the person receiving the gift.

Dimensions:

Coaster is 4X4

Mug cozy is 9 1/2 X approx 3″

Note: You will always begin and end with a slip stitch. You will sl st in the previous sl st and HDC in the previous HDC throughout every row unless noted otherwise.
