THE GHOST BUDDY

My family and I are big Halloween fans! We love dressing up and all the candy! Yummy! So now that we are getting closer to October, I realized I had no Halloween-themed amigurumi. And I had to change that! So I took a spooky ghost idea but made it cute and small! If you are attending markets I think a basket of a variety of these little ghost biddies at kid eye level will be a winner! They are so quick to make which I also love about them! I hope you enjoy this pattern!

I created a pretty neat PDF that you can download and print! You can find it here https://www.etsy.com/shop/arianaehall for the ghost buddy. Thank you for your support!

Feel free to post pictures of your finished projects and/or links to your shops so all can see! I love when you tag me @arianaehall on all social media!

Read Before beginning:

  • STITCH MARKER – You will be working in rounds so keep a stitch marker close to use when working up the ghost. Unless otherwise stated to CH and turn. They will mark the 1st st of each round. I use scrap yarn pieces.
  • TENSION – Make sure you use a tight enough tension to help close any “holes” a loose tension may cause. I crochet yarning under then Over to create a tighter stitch. Go down a hook size if needed. ( my tension is naturally tight)
  • Pattern- (EX. *SC in 8, INV DEC in the next. Repeat from * to the end. (36) ) You will end that round with the second step of what that round instructs. This will vary.

Slip stitch to the first SC made and fasten off and weave in all ends.

Face

Saftey eyes – Place safety eyes between rounds 10 & 11. 5 stitch spaces apart. (do not place the back of the eyes yet )

Black Yarn – Use a long enough strand of yarn to add some eyelashes first and the mouth, 2 rounds below the eyes.  Secure with a knot when finished, then place the back of the safety eyes securely.

Pink Yarn – Place the cheeks/blush 2 stitches away from the top of the mouth using it as a guide. Secure with a knot when finished.

Poly-fil and Sewing

Poly-fil – The amount of poly-fil will determine the shape and size of the ghost. Start off with small amounts at a time so you prevent bulking especially at the top around the decrease section. You want a squishy ghost not too dense.

When Poly-fil is as you wish, sew the bottom closed by weaving across round 23. twice. Secure with a knot and weave in both ends. Be mindful of the face and make sure it is centered throughout the sewing process because it may move around. You can use pins or extra yarn needles to help keep it steady.

Bow Pattern

Make a Magic Circle

[CH 3, 3DC, CH 3, Sl st, CH 3, 3DC, CH 3, Sl st. ] All this in the magic circle.

Fasten Off. Pull the magic circle tail to close the center. Leave a long tail to wrap around tightly around the center of the bow about 8 – 10 x.

Sew on top or below the mouth as a bow tie.
