Another year, another crochet barefoot sandal pattern!
I don’t know why I love them so much but I do. I that you enjoy making them for the little one in your life.
I have made so many barefoot sandals in the past 4 years and after having my daughter it has become almost like a tradition to make her some new ones every year. Maybe it’s because we love being barefoot during the hot summer months. OK, it’s because it’s more of an accessory than a shoe, and to be honest, who doesn’t love more accessories! 😉
If you like these check out my CROCHET BAREFOOT BOBBLE SANDALS PATTERN.
I hope you enjoy them and I also included suggestions in customizing the ankle and toe hoop to better fit a couple of different child sizes.
If you want to check out my bobble barefoot sandals check them out here for the free pattern as well! Enjoy!
♡ The circle portion in this pattern is worked in continuous rounds, meaning no joining until the last slip stitch round.
♡ The reason I give instructions to leave a long tail when fastening off is so you weave it along the back because when stretched the ends tend to pop out the side if too close to the join. I hope that makes sense, just weave a long tail a couple of times in the back to reduce that.
♡ The rainbow is made using the surface slip stitch.
♡ Feel free to add more/reduce the number of chains for the ankle and toe loop to for a better custom fit. You can skip step 4 and continue if this is made for a 0-3 MO.
♡ My daughter uses a size 6 child size (2.5 yo)
♡ The circle measures 2.5 inches.
♡ H 8 – 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
♡ Worsted weight yarn (#4) – I used I love this yarn
- 4 colors. One main color and 3 others for the rainbow.
- For each rainbow color, you need an arm’s length of your choice of colors.
♡ Stitch marker – can be a piece of yarn.
♡ Yarn needle
Abbreviations of Stitches Used:
♡ MC – magic circle
♡ CH – chain
♡ SC – single crochet
♡ SlSt – slip stitch
♡ #SC – make the number of SC in that one stitch
Pattern: Barefoot Sandal
Notes ~ Using the MC method + Don’t forget to use your stitch marker to help you keep track of the continuous rounds. Do not join rounds.
Step 1 – Make 6 SC in the MC.
Step 2 – SC 2x in each of the 6 stitches. (12)
Step 3 – SC in the first st, 2SC in the next, *SC, 2SC. Repeat from * to the end of the round. (18)
Step 4 – SC in the first and second st, 2SC in the next. *SC, SC, 2SC. Repeat from * to the end of the round. (24)
Step 5 – Slip Stitch in each st. (24)
Step 6 – Chain 10 for the toe loop, skip 2 Slst’s, join in the next. Fasten off and leave a long tail to weave in.
Step 7 – Starting from where you last joined, skip 8 stitches, and join with the main color for the ankle loop. Chain 16, skip 6 stitches and join in the next st. Leave a long tail, fasten off and weave in the ends.
♡ Cut 6 strands of yarn two of each color about 20 inches. Leave about 1.5″ of yarn when starting out the surface slip stitch to be able to weave in later.
♡ Face the sandal towards you and find the stitch that is aligned just below the MC, making sure the toe loop is centered.
