It’s Friday! But we are still in quarantine so doesn’t mean much right now but it does mean I had the chance to get this pattern out for you!
I love blogging and staying busy making things for the kids and the home. So when in-between of DIY games we make up to keep the kids entertained and constant snacking, I make drink coasters, lol.
But not just any drink coasters. Well kinda, I would say they are beginner-friendly but I went a little crazy and added a step for SC in the 3rd loop of the HDC and some cute shells and picots in there. It might sound like a lot but trust me! after your first you have this pattern memorized like me! So cute my daughter said it looked like the sun so I made a yellow one. 🙂
I hope you all enjoy it! And if you make one don’t forget to tag me @arianaehall on Instagram and Facebook! Happy Crocheting! ♡
Materials:
♡ H 8 – 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
♡ Cotton yarn – I used Premier and yellow is ILTC from HL (#4) But any would work 🙂
♡ Yarn needle
♡ Scissors
Abbreviations:
♡ CH – chain
♡ MC – magic circle (aka – magic ring)
♡ St(s) – stitch
♡ Slst – slip stitch
♡ SC – single crochet
♡ DC – double crochet
♡ HDC – half double crochet
♡ Shell – shell stitch = 5 double crochet in one stitch.
♡ Picot – slip stitch, chain 3, slip stitch. All in one stitch.
Notes:
♡ The pattern is worked in rounds and you will join at the end of each round. Chain 2 at the beginning does NOT count as a stitch, the first stitch will be made there same as chain 2.
♡ I tried something a little different on Step 8. I tried organizing the steps for the shells and picot edging as much a possible. Let me know what you think of it.
♡ The pattern is fairly easy for a beginner but does include some fun challenging and different stitches used to keep it fun yet easy.
♡ When you are working your drink coaster you will notice a bit of curling. It’s normal after you are finished, you can block the drink coaster. I noticed it does curl a tad bit when my drink was on top but it looked cute almost like a trivet.
Don’t forget to connect with me on Instagram (@arianaehall) and tag me if you make some! I would love to see them!
I hope you enjoy!
