THE UNICORN PILLOW – CROCHET PATTERN

Hi makers! Welcome back! In this post, you will find the complete pattern for The Unicorn Pillow! So exciting right!?

The inspiration behind my designs is my children. Victoria has entered the world of magical creatures, and she is fascinated with unicorns like most little children are. A pillow seemed comfortable for her to snuggle up for nap time. I was a bit nervous, not sure how it was going to turn out, but I’m glad I kept going because she loved it. I hope the one you make it for snuggles it all the time!

Enjoy!

I also want to let you now that you can find this pattern in a PDF version available for download on Ravelry! Completely FREE!

Materials:

    • Yarn Brand used: Color Made Easy – Pink lemonade(MAIN COLOR) and Prism ( SECOND COLOR) – Weight Category: 5 Bulky
    • Yarn used for curls and flowers were in worsted weight. (#4) I love this yarn & Caron is what I used.
    • H 8 – 5mm crochet hook
    • Yarn Needle to sew and weave in ends.
    • Safety eyes – 9 or 12 mm will look lovely.
    • Poly-fil for the head and body.
    • Stitch marker or piece of yarn.
    • Optional- you can use black thread or yarn for eyelashes if you’d like.

Abbreviations:

    • CH – chain
    • STS – stitches
    • MC – magic circle (aka -magic ring)
    • SC – single crochet
    • HDC – half double crochet
    • INC – increase ( 2 sc in one stitch ) and (2 hdc in one stitch for the ears ONLY)
    • DEC – decrease (sc 2 together) (hdc 2 together for ears portion ONLY)

Notes:

♥Gauge isn’t necessary for this project. But just keep in mind that the final dimensions will differ greatly if using a different category of weight yarn. Final dimensions with the bulky size yarn is approximately 11.5” width and 7.5” height of the pillow body.

♥You will only insert poly-fil to the head and the pillow. The legs are intentionally left flat so if a child is resting on it, the legs wouldn’t be bothersome.

♥The flowers can be decorated with buttons or sewn on pearl buttons for decorative use only as it can cause a choking hazard for kids. I left mine as they are.

Spring Flower Hair Clips – Free Crochet Pattern

MAKE AND ADD AS MANY AS YOU WOULD LIKE. I MADE 2.

Assembly:

    • Sew on the unicorn’s horn 3 rows above the eyes, centered between them.
    • Sew on the ears 7 rows behind eyes slightly off-center. Pinching the bottom to create an ear canal.
    • Attach the head to the body.on the left top corner.
    • Attach 4 legs leaving a gap in the center between each two to separate front legs and back legs.
    • Sew on the 4 mane curls behind the horn, down to the main pillow.

( I purposely made a few so the curls wouldn’t be in the child’s face when they lay down, but if you do add more then they can be tucked away from the other side too. 🙂 )

Add flower on the front of the right ear.

    • Sew on the 4 longer curls on the opposite side of the pillow for the tail. Add flower on top to hide the tail sewing.

Crochet unicorn with curly mane and flowers on the head and tail.
